but this is a horrific crime that has upset people on a very personal level obviously. but this city is preparing for some pretty high profile events coming up. the olympic games in 2016, but the next couple of months, they're going to be receiving pope francis, this is going to be his first big trip abroad and he's going to celebrate world youth day in rio de janeiro and they expecting billions of young people from around the city and around the world. so this city is trying to clean up it's image with a very serious crime problem. >> how common is this? this is a horrific crime that' e's occurred, are people saying this is shocking or does this happen often? >> violent crime is a historic problem in rio stay jde janeiro what is the big problem is the d drug violence. they are large amounts of drug violence. so they have sent police breaking up those gangs. but they have daily theft and robbery, it's not uncommon to be robbed on public transportation, on the bus. but rape doesn't really happen on the streets. it isn't more of a problem or less of a problem than in my o

but if you take a look at the ground, like all of this concrete has been repaired. all of the brickwork has been repaired. and that happened on saturday. we have a picture of construction workers, union workers who came out and provided their services for free. the mayor of boston wanted the street to look perfectly normal by this weekend so that people would come down and live life as they normally do. there are still some signs that bomb went off though as you can see, take a look at marathon place. this is a store. you can see the windows are still boarded up and there's some damage to the building next door. but as you can see, marathon sports is open for business as is the candy store next door. and hopefully they'll make up all of that money that they lost because they were closed for more than a few days, as you might expect because of these bombings. but i must say, wolf, the streets are packed. life looks normal. but everybody's quite aware of what happened here. >> yeah, they certainly are. but i like that feeling of boston strong and the people in boston,

anyone who has run a marathon or knows a marathon, people are throwing bags everywhere, they're exhausted, looking for family members. now they're going through whatever may be, whatever materials may still be here. it is a lot. i will tell you this, marathon will happen next year. it will be different. the finish line will probably be different. i was head of homeland security for the state. it was a big part of planning the marathon. the problem is, of course, the finish line, as you said, is very open. you want it to be open. people are running into family members' arms, it's very joyous. there are be more precautions at finish line. no one believes marathons can be safe. it's 52 -- i'm doing math wrong -- 26 times 2 miles of spectators on both sides of the road and you can't make them perfectly safe. so you have procedures and processes in place to ensure that people are looking out for bad things happening and that the first responders know what to do if something does. >> you've got great insight here. so share some of it with us, if you will. president meeting with cabinet member,
